Easter EGG-stravaganza 2018

The festivities began with an Easter service led by Father Chris in Bourne Abbey Church for Upper Key Stage 2, and a Collective Worship in the hall with Mrs. Simpson for the rest of the school. The children from both Academy schools joined together to perform and narrate the Easter story and it was a really lovely way to begin our Easter celebrations.

Following on from this in the afternoon was our Eggstravaganza, which began with an Easter Bonnet parade. Some ‘egg-ceptionally’ amazing effort had gone into creating the most original bonnets we had ever seen! After parading in front of the school a winner was chosen from each class to receive an Easter egg. Some of the children had also had a go at designing and decorating eggs which were on display all morning in the hall for the children to come and see. It was no yolk judging them as the attention to detail was ‘egg-cellent’!

Just when we thought the day could not get any more ‘egg-citing’, the children picked up their hard boiled eggs for an egg rolling competition. Together as a school we gathered on the playground to see who could carefully roll their egg the furthest.

To end our afternoon the PTFA organised an Easter Egg Hunt where the children paired up across the school to search for clues to complete a hidden Easter message.

The day was a cracking success and it was really lovely to combine the ‘egg-citement’ of Easter festivities with the important meaning behind the celebration.
