The Global Learning Programme

Following on from our recent success at attaining our UNICEF Rights Respecting Schools Gold Level Award, staff and children at Bourne Elsea Park Church of England Primary Academy are now embarking on the next part of this exciting journey by establishing a partnership with The Global Learning Programme (GLP).  On Thursday 19th April, the school hosted a twilight session for other schools in the region, led by Chris Williams, a British Council School’s Ambassador and GLP Expert Centre Co-ordinator, along with Linda Barker, an Independent Global Learning Consultant and Researcher.   The session covered the strands of learning within the GLP framework, the Sustainable Development Goals (aspirational targets set by the United Nations) and how British Values and the UNCRC are supported and celebrated within these projects.  On a more individual basis, staff from our school were given invaluable advice and resources to help develop the pupils’ understanding and work towards completing our targets for both our Green Flag and International Schools’ Award, both of which we are well on our way to achieving!  Both Chris Williams and Linda Barker are highly specialised in the field of Global Learning and inspired those who attended with their passion and experience along with their wealth of ideas and resources so watch out for some of the results during our Healthy Week later in the year! We are extremely grateful and are already looking forward to hosting the second of these sessions at Bourne Elsea Park on Tuesday 5th June before attending a Global Learning Programme conference in Lincoln later in June.  We cannot wait to begin the next steps of this eye opening adventure with the pupils.
