Parents Visit New School

Parents visiting new schoolWe were delighted, recently, to welcome parents/carers of the children due to start in the very first Reception class at Bourne Elsea Park C of E Primary Academy to an introductory meeting held at The Centre @ Elsea Park.

Mrs Edwards, Executive Headteacher, introduced the Reception staff – Mrs Laura Spillett, Assistant Head and Class Teacher along with Teaching Assistants Mrs Stephanie Barrett and Mrs Liz Dacombe.  She then invited parents/carers to walk the short distance to the school where they were thrilled to step inside for the first time.  Although the building is still under construction, the group were able to see the layout of the school and understand where their children will be taught and where they will play.  Parents/carers had the opportunity to ask questions of both the school staff and representatives of contractors GEDA.

Returning to the Community Centre Mrs Edwards and Mrs Spillett shared key information about starting school.  Parents/carers and children were then invited to sample food prepared by the school’s hot meal provider Food4Thought.

There was also great excitement as the meeting provided the opportunity to see a full set of the new school uniform for the first time and for children to try sweatshirts, cardigans and coats on.

Mrs Cherry Edwards said “It was a fantastic meeting and extremely well attended.  We loved meeting our families together for the first time and are looking forward to a long and happy partnership. We are grateful to GEDA for allowing us to take parents/carers on a tour of our fabulous new school and to Food4Thought for providing delicious food samples.”
