Rutland Water Visit

Pond dippingOn Wednesday 3rd June, Year 2 at Bourne Elsea Park C of E Academy visited Egleton Nature Reserve at Rutland Water for an amazing ‘Habitats’ day. The children have been studying ‘Bugs and Blooms’ for the past few weeks and so really enjoyed putting their knowledge into practice.

All day hands on activities consisted of pond Bird watchingdipping, bug hunting in the woods and finally bird watching. The highlights of the trip were catching and holding a baby newt, spying a grass snake and one pupil even caught a stickleback fish whilst pond dipping!

Using binoculars, the children enjoyed spying goslings, Canadian geese and cormorants from the bird hide. A super day enjoyed by all!
