Spelling Bee-auties!

On Monday 22nd June, 6 children from Year 2 attended a Spelling Bee at Bourne Westfield Academy, and they had a bee-rilliant time!

The competition was broken down into two rounds, the first for Year 1 and the second for Year 2. The children were challenged to spell 10 words, and each time a word was announced, there was a frenzy of whispering and scribbling as the teams worked together to find the correct spelling.  Then they were asked “Team, can one member stand and tell us the correct spelling?” The teachers watched on, biting their nails and crossing their fingers, and they were not disappointed with the outstanding performances they witnessed.

Over the course of the competition, the children’s spelling abilities were tested to the max, with words such as ‘treasure’ and ‘movement’ being particularly tricky!  But all 3 teams performed brilliantly and the brand new Spelling Bee trophy was awarded to Bourne Westfield, with Bourne Abbey C of E Academy and Bourne Elsea Park C of E Academy taking joint second place.  We done to all of the spelling superstars who took part, and a great big THANK YOU to Bourne Westfield Academy for organising such a fun afternoon.
