Do you know how to be 'ROAD SAFE' this winter?

To kick off Road Safety Awareness week the school has just appointed two brand new Junior Road Safety Officers, Poppy and Florence who are in charge of promoting the ‘Stay Bright at Night’ campaign across the school along with other road safety issues. “We are looking forward to holding assemblies and competitions to raise awareness of road safety,” said Poppy.

Kay Taman from Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership visited the school this week to talk to children about the scheme. Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership offers The Junior Road Safety Officer Scheme as part of its road safety education programme for schools.  The scheme has now been operating successfully for over ten years.

Poppy and Florence will certainly begin driving up enthusiasm for road safety at Bourne Elsea Park Academy this week with a special assembly they have planned themselves.

“It’s all about teaching children how to stay safe at night, we want them to wear bright colours and reflectors on their clothing” said Florence. “We are going to be putting on a mini play to show the dangers of not being seen in the dark and launching our first exciting design a road safety mascot competition.”
