PE and School Sport Premium Funding

Following the success of the 2012 Olympic Games the Government announced ring-fenced funding for the improvement of the quality and breadth of PE and sport provision within all primary schools. Schools are free to determine how best to use this funding. The funding for Bourne Elsea Park for 2014-15 was £4,000.

At Elsea Park we wish to increasingly provide excellent sporting experiences and opportunities for all our children as our school grows. We believe that this funding will allow us to enhance our provision further.

At Elsea Park our 2014-15 funding Sports Premium Funding has been used for; employing some specialist PE coaching time to support and to deliver in conjunction with teachers quality PE lessons to Year 2 pupils; developing the range of quality extra-curricular sports clubs; purchasing additional PE equipment and playground equipment to ensure pupils are provided with a range of opportunities to be physically active and to support understanding of how physical activity can help them to adopt a healthy and active lifestyle.

As Bourne Elsea Park develops we will ensure that all pupils benefit regardless of sporting ability; that the most able pupils are given the opportunity to compete in advanced tournaments; we will fund swimming lessons for all pupils in KS2 in order to support all families financially. In 2015-16 this will be Year 3 as it is the only KS2 class in our school.

We will continue to develop our extra-curricular programme offering increasingly varied seasonal opportunities in all areas of Physical Education. We see these additional experiences as extensions to all children’s national curriculum programmes of study. The extra curriculum programme is open to all children of all abilities. The ethos will always be one of enjoyment with meaningful coaching and teaching so that children acquire skills, tactics and morals of fair play and respect. The teachers deliver this programme and we will continue to invite qualified coaches to support in the delivery of a developing range of activities provided.

As our school grows and working with our partner school Bourne Abbey Church of England Primary Academy and other local schools, we will develop school teams in order for them to be have the opportunity to be very successful in local, district and county competitions, providing children with valuable experiences of competing with others.

We will evaluate the impact of our funding use throughout the school year to monitor pupil progress and value for money.
